It was a big race at Daytona. And I just don't know what could be bigger for Carl Martin.
Sure, Carl came up 2 points shy of the Segment. But he won 3 of the last 9 races, PLUS, he won the All-Star race. He has won 4 points paying victories this season, and that has allowed him to open up a 66 point lead, which is about the biggest lead anyone has enjoyed all season, and quite frankly, I think I only held like a 72 point lead at one point last season. So this is about the biggest points lead anyone has ever held on the MCF. He is going for about the longest period of time that anyone has ever held the points lead as well. Life is good for that guy on the MCF Fantasy.
But we also must not forget to congratulate Keane, Leprechaun93. That guy just won the segment on consistency. He hasn't won a race yet, but he was consistent enough to win this segment, even by just those two points. That's insane.
I'm going to do a "recount" tomorrow on those two from Talladega through now to make sure it's right.
And I don't intend to scare anyone (actually, I do.) But as of right now, position wise, I am in about the same position I was in at this time last year and went on to win the whole thing..... so watch out, boys. I was 4th place, 33 points out last year. Problem is, I was 33 points out from Junior Car, and I'm actually closer to him this year then last year. This year, 93 points... but I'm a position up. I'm ready for this challenge. It's just a different guy I have to figure out how to run down.... It's time for me to show that I am still the boss around here....
And I need to do that. Of the top 10, only 5 are "veterans" of this league. Three of the top 5 are "rookies."
As competitive as this year is, Carl just keeps on showing us that the right picks still dominate these races. I hope I can go on a tear like that sometime soon!

As if things couldn't get better for Carl Martin... I just double checked NASCAR.com, and his pick, Kasey Kahne, who was scored 11th, was just moved to 7th... those 4 positions are worth 4 poitns ,and will give Carl Martin the Segment 2 win and an even bigger margin of victory....

Keane, I don't know if it is your bad luck as much as it is just Carl's good luck. You're fourth overall and and in a position to make a challenge for a championship.
