Default Edwards Not to Run Nationwide/

Edwards opts out of Nationwide Series in 2012 - Jan 15, 2012 - NASCAR.COM

I think this is a great move!! Look back on all the champions in the past 15-20 years. Dale Earnhardt wasn't running Busch series. Jeff Gordon and Terry Labonte didn't, Dale Jarrett didn't, Bobby Labonte didn't, Tony Stewart didn't, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch didn't, and Jimmie Johnson didn't.

One key that they all have in common is that they did not run Nationwide when they won their championships. I think having Edwards focused more on his cup cars not just on Saturday, but on Friday when they are practicing, will make Edwards a better driver on Sunday who I believe will haev a better chance at winning more races, being more consistent, and winning more races.

Compare that to this....

Keselowski steps up Truck Series schedule in '12 - Jan 14, 2012 - NASCAR.COM

Brad Keselowski is going to run a few truck series races next year. Stepping up his program a bit! But it's very confusing to read. He says he'd rather not do it, but he's doing it to gauge the eqiupment that Parker Kligerman is running to see what kind of opportunities they are giving him. So is Parker doing badly and they want to see just how well he could be doing? What in the world????

That is a good plan for him to do but honestly I still think NASCAR should put a stop to the cup drivers in other series

Smart move by Edwards. He showed himself to be a class act, despite some of his past actions, with the way he treated the championship race with Tony Stewart. They both raced and acted off the track as if they had an immense amount of respect for each other and I really liked seeing that.

I think Carl Edwards has always been a class act. I enjoy watching him and hope he can get a few championships. Perhaps giving up Nationwide will allow him to do that and maybe this is why Mark Martin never won it. I can't think of a driver who more deserved a title and never got it than Mark Martin. Drew I think you are correct. It seems like Tony Stewart has finally grown up.

I think nascar likes the big boys to run trucks and nationwide to draw more people to those events. I also think it makes the younger guys more competitive because they are trying to beat the cup guys

It just seems like Cup guys win most of the Nationwide races. It's like Albert Pujols or somebody playing single A minor league baseball, which happens but only for injury rehab assignments.
