Waiting for `Brent's answer ?

Also, do you agree with Matt & Carl ?

Edwards and Kenseth question lack of caution at end of race

Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth were both frustrated with the end of the Sprint Cup race Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway, where NASCAR's decision not to throw a caution allowed drivers to speed past Edwards' spinning

Even without win a race, statistically Jr has the best driver rating at Talladega in the last 10 years (actually Larson was "rated" higher until he wrecked in his 3rd Dega race). Obviously his rating would be much higher if the averaging included Jr's 5 previous Dega wins

I think both Matt and Carl got screwed at the end of that. It looked like they were trying to screw Jr. Jr has been on the other side of that finish (running second with one lap to go) numerous times and they threw the caution every time, denying him a chance to win it at the line. The excuse Nascar gave was a joke. They put some drivers lives in jeopardy with that non-call just like they did when they wouldn't throw the caution for Mark Martin at the end of the '07 Daytona 500. A lot more cars were collected than there should have been. I don't mind them racin' to the line, but Nascar should do it one way or the other - consistent!

Alwyas thought there was a rather easy way to fix the problem. The "last lap" caution rule... should an accident happen on the final lap, it should be a drivers judgment call with this as the expectation:

If the accident happens IN FRONT of you, you are expected to adhere to that as the beginning of a caution and know that if you maintain speed, you maintain whatever your position was so your first priority should be the safety of your fellow competitor.

If the accident happens BEHIND YOU and therefore there is no reason it isn't safe for your to continue on, then you are cleared to race to the line.

So if the accdietn happens with the 12th place car spinning out, then from 12th-back the field is frozen, the first 11 cars continue racing to the checkered flag.

If two cars race to teh checkered, so be it... if it's 20 cars, so be it.
