Default Won’t stay running 03 ss help!

I been working on putting a system in my Monte Carlo and today the battery was dead so I had a friend jump it. It will start with some gas and even stay running as long as gas is applied but as soon as u let off it dies. I was guessing ether alternator or something? The car ran fine yesterday but all of a sudden today nothing any ideas on where I should look

Default Did you put the battery

On a charger? If the battery is dead your car won't get enough current to run at idle.

Yes I have already checked all the fuses. I believe since I was taping into some wires for the head unit I set off the security or I have also heard maybe the mass airflow sensor here’s a link to someone having a smilar problem not my video but the same thing is happening

I would remove the stereo and the wiring for it. Then see if it acts up still. If not then I would get a wiring harness adapter from crutchfield.com there is a special box that has to be installed to communicate with the ECU for door dingers and a few other things. As well a part to limit the power from the headunit to the rear amplifier. Do you have those?

Yes I have those but my steering control interface is through axxess and it required me to take into two wires on the factory side of things that’s when I noticed the issues I removed everything then tried again an even put it back to factory still problems the security light is up along with traction control an check engine lights none of which were there before

Default Ok

Do you have a code scanner? Does it throw any codes? Kind of sounds like the ignition switch maybe worn. Or there is something going on with the security system. I damaged my ignition switch removing the dash panel with the key fob still on the ring. When I installed my stereo. But I don't have the steering wheel controls yet. I haven't found a nice enough wheel that has them. So I can't speak on that aspect. What voltage is your alternator putting out when your holding the gas to keep it running?

If you're anywhere near Western PA I have a good scanner.
