Default Window switch

Hello,
I took my 1998's door apart to put in a new speaker, which works nicely. However, now the window goes up fine, but not so fine down. I took the switch apart and if I play with it just the right way the window will go down, but with no consistency whatsoever. I'm looking to purchase a new power window switch on Amazon.com Is there anything I can do before I splurge the $40 needed? I did spray a little WD40 to clean the connectors. Any help would be appreciated. The passenger window works fine btw.
thanks,
Ted

ah so they're unlike the 2000-2005 PW switches where you can take them apart and clean them to restore function?

get a switch from a junk yard, they usually cost free.99, mater of fact, grab a couple.

the window switches are notorious for going out due to rain dripping on the inside and landing right in that switch area.

$40 for a new one, when i can get 3 for free??? your call.

side note, i didnt know or even think of the 6th gens switch fitting the 5th gens. pretty sweet if they do.
