Default Window problems

So I bought this 2000 monte carlo ss about a year ago and everything is running great but my passenger side window stopped rolling down (guessing the motor petered out) and then a part on the window assembly came loose and now the window won't stay up without the help of tape. I don't think it should be necessary to replace the entire assembly but I cant even figure out what the part would be called that keeps the window from falling into the door. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your motor and regulator went bad. I just installed this one in my 2001 Monte LS. It has been in there since the spring and works great. This is a well built unit with a new motor for $50. Free shipping too!

found the problem. The regulator itself is fine, except for one plastic piece that holds the cap at the end of the wire, it's made out of cheap plastic so I can see how it broke so easily considering it's the only thing holding up the window.

further inspection reveals that not only is that piece broken, but the cable (since I'm dumb and kept trying to roll down the window out of habit) got wrapped up wrong in the spool... but the motor is actually working fine so I've come to the conclusion that the easiest way to fix it would be to just replace the whole regulator assembly. Found one that is similar except where mine had that plastic piece, this one is metal and not a piece of garbage.

My motor was working fine, but the price for just a new regulator no motor, cost more than just the regulator itself. I'm glad you found a good quality part. Our Monte's have large heavy windows to lift.
