I have an 01 ss with the 3.8L. Now that it is nice out, my driver side window will go down perfectly, but going up is a new issue. It goes up in spirts and a lot slower than it ever did before. The passenger side works perfect. Is this the switch starting to go bad for my driver side window, or possibly it is coming off of the window track?

 

i doubt that it would be coming off the track...probably the switch or motor inside the door panel, take the door panel off and make sure all the connections are good...thats the first thing i'd check ...this seems to be a pretty common thing on the gm's there's been a few people posting that this happened to them

 

You also might have to replace the electric switch that in the arm rest as well. The swiched pushed all the way down sends a signal to run the window completely down,when closing the windowyou need to hold the button up. If the switch is dying this could be a great pointer. I have a similar problem with my moonroof and my Blazer had that problem with the mirrors.

 

Golfstud, my 01ss has the same problem. Give this a try, push down on the switch to make the window go up, slowly let the switch come back up and you will find a place that the contacts make a good connection. I have learned to do this on mine. At least this will let you have some control on your window until you can replace the switch.
