Recently I've noticed my 01 Monte making a pretty audible winding down sound, similar to something powering down, when braking to a complete stop. I recent had the rotors cut and put on some performance pads from O'reillys but I'm doubting this sound is coming from the brakes. Anyone have any ideas?

 

Hard to say. Check tranny & power steering fluid levels just in case something's low and gears are grinding.

 

Sounds like it could be a bad wheel bearing, similiar sound i heard on my malibu. Try getting the car up to 20-30mph and then take ur foot of the gas and coast for a bit and see if u still hear the same sound.
