Recently coolant elbows took a crap on me.
Had the upper and lower both replaced. During the process we broke off one of the vacuum line tee's. That came in on Friday, put it on... and well that's where I am at now.
It idles, real high. Above 1k, and it fluctuates
Also, the Booster gauge is stuck at half/or in the middle. Don't remember what the actual reading is since I had to leave it at my parents house earlier today.
Second/third : The oil gauge fluctuates also, its stays half way when I stop, once I accelerates it goes up to a quarter or so.

Now, this afternoon. I went to get a haircut thinking the idling problem would go away, mech, said maybe some air got in while the vacuum line was off(we turned it on) to get the coolant to circulate, during the change of coolant elbows.

anyways, i took a vid on my way to the barbershop, before I decided it was best to leave at my parents house instead of in some highway.

I have not looked at the vid, but I assume this did not exist prior to replacing the coolant elbows? I think the oil gauge being a little erratic is a result of what's causing the bad idle. Fix the idle issue and everything will got back to normal.

If this just started after changing the elbows, I would see if any other vacuum lines were damaged (not that these cars have a lot of lines). You can dod the ol' mist starting fluid trick (spray starting fluid around, an open vacuum leak will suck it in and temporarily alter the idle). Make sure you did not leave any connectors disconnected to some of the emissions equipment.

Sounds EXACTLY like a vacuum leak. The boost and oil are idle speed related, unless your vacuum operated by-pass valve is on the same vacuum circuit, start looking there.

Just to point out, your oil gauge is working normally.

Mass Air Flow sensor?

They are EXPENSIVE. From GM expect over $200.

 

I would get the less then $10 MAF Sensor cleaner and try that first.

 

Thanks guys! Story: got dale towed for free and is now at the shop. Got quoted a price for labor and new parts. I asked what he would charge just for labor and well now given the new info its just cheaper to have him provide the parts.
