Default When you do a repair do you need to reset computer?

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS 3.8L. I have had many problems lately, and each time I have them fixed, the car doesn't seem fixed for about 2 weeks then it is fine. At that point the check engine light goes out and the car is back to normal. I had a MAF replaced and an air pump replaced. Each time I left the garage, it seemed like nothing was fixed. Drove around for about 2 weeks and the car is fine. Do you have to reset the computer when you do a repair? Not the the check engine light, because that eventually goes off itself.

Whenever you make a repair or change to a sensor, it is good to disconnect the battery for an hour to let the PCM reset the tables.

If you don't it will use its old logged data with the bad sensors for a while. But at the same time, that battery should be disconnected when messing with a sensor anyway

that gets reset with the diagnostic machine,so it could erase your old codes. or disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, to reset computer/usually the check engine light, has to do with the evap system. there is 3 of them, like the evap senors on top of gas tank/ evap canister by gas tank/ evap soleniod by the fuel rail. good luck.

Not sure what you are asking. But you need to clear codes/freeze frame data after a repair. You don't need to reflash the PCM.

It will turn the light out, the codes will still be stored in the PCM.
