wheel bearing
Put the car in the air... and spin the tire... it should spin freely, and for a while... and no catches if you spin it yourself holding on the whole time.. Sometimes it's harder to feel the catch if you're using the outside of the tire, so spin it by the center cap or something where there's less leverage.
The right rear bearing was bad. The wheel would spin free by hand but had a brake dragging sound. Removed the pads, caliper, and rotor but still had the same sound. I installed a new bearing hub and now the wheel spins with one finger. FYI....what a PITAto remove, had to beat it with a 3lb hammer.
I had the pleasure of replacing my front wheel hubs about 3 weeks ago...it was a pleasure because my little brother is a mechanic...
Although it wasnt rocket science by any means, it did require the right tools. It really only took about 1.5 hours to replace both...$225 cost for both hubs.
1.5 hours of my time + $225 for hubs + $40 to my little bro....not having to hear a freaking hum while driving over 15mph on my right side= PRICELESS
It was no walk in the park...but I did it with a car jack in my driveway. good luck!

I just had the front driver side wheel bearing replaced on my car.. I hot a Pothole driving down the interstate and then the car started to howl. I though aww crap, I bent a wheel or something.
I didn't have time to mess around with the car right away so I brought it to Waukegan Tire..
I think they did a great job, but I think they gave it to me with the price of the Hub Bearing..
281.29 for a BCA National Wheel End brandHub Bearing part number BCA-513203. That is not including labor..
I googled this part and it was much cheaper. And I see that 513202 is also sourced from china. (I am assuming it is the same as the national one by Federal Mugal)
I could have done it myself.. Oh well the car rides great I guess..
