Default weird noise

So i just bought a 2004 monte carlo ss its the Dale Jr edition. I noticed when going slower from 0-40 MPH that i can hear a screeching noise that sound likes its coming from my wheels. its a continous noise but goes away when i tap the brakes and comes back when i release the brakes. I thought it was my wheel bearings but if it was that it would be more of a growling noise right? my other thought is bad brakes, but if that were the case, i would only be hearing the noise if i was braking right?

it could be the wear tabs on the pads telling you it's time for brakes, i also recently ran into where a coworker car was just pad slapped and the pads had worn a grove into the rotor and there was a lip on the rotor that was rubbing on on the pads, i would say pull your wheels and check the brakes

I had this EXACT same problem on my 00' LS Monte Carlo. Take it to a local shop and they will know. Thats what I did and cost about a half hour of their time. If you want to know the do it yourself way I will have to get back with you but from what I remember it does have something to do with brakes and after I put new expensive ceramic brakes on it didn't fix the problem.

I'd start with the brakes as well.

I actually just had this happen with my right rear caliper, the slide had seized and worn down the outboard pad.

so the weird noise was just a spot on my brake pad where it just hit right and squeeks no wear on the brake or rotors tho. but i put it up on the lift and it had a leaky power steering pump replaced that with no issues tho. it was good times
