Sorry to hear you need both axles, but I feel your pain, trust me I just replaced both axles in my car lol. I got lucky with mine and was able to use a buddies shop so the cost was nowhere near what you are being charged, had no idea the seal on the transmission end would go also, I'm glad that didn't happen to mine, but I'm sure it would have had I had to go any longer while driving.

Not trying to be mean but you should call your car "The Monty Pit"

It turned out it didn't need the seal at the tranny
He said it looked fine once they got it apart and clean
So, just the 2 axles installed, $857 including our 13% tax
Lol, I like the Monty Pit

And does it every run good now!
I like it a lot, now I just washed the salt off and it runs even better 😉

Glad you got it running good again, and even better that you didn't have the added expense of the seal
