6th Gen ('00-'05): Viabration in axle?

Yes the axles I have replaced in my experience usually make a pop or clunking when turning one direction or another. And/ or the cv boot is toasted.
The OP asked if was overkill and prob is to change all. But if changing the hub already you are already 99% there , might as well pull the axle out of the other end and replace it.
He's got a leaking boot any how. Makes more sense to me to replace the axle than just try to change the boot

if the needle bearings in the cv shaft are damaged or missing, it vey well could cause a vibration under throttle. I just replaced both my axles for the same problem. When I pulled the pass side axle, the needle bearings were gone in 2 of the rollers.
