rear axle 1980 monte carlo
hi,
i have a 1980 monte carlo rear axle and i need parts for it.
can anyone give me info on this axle please?
8.5 or 7.5 inch??
the axle makes a really loud grinding noise when driving. took the cover of and the oil was all metallic due to metal that came from the busted bearing...
the problem is the bearing that sits where your drive shaft enters the axle. it's broken and needs to be replaced.
thats why i need to know what axle it is so i can order the parts i need on rockauto or so.
probably smart to replace all bearings since the good bearings will have metal inside them.
if anyone can also tell me what parts i will need to replace, feel free to tell me!!
thanx

I;m pretty sure you have a 7.5 rear as all 4th gen montes had the 7.5 stock, I'm just not sure if the 3rd gens had the same. but maybe this will help
