Default Tune Up Question

I have an 02 Monte and I知 more than positive that I need to do a tune up on this car. I was wondering if I need to replace the ignition coils and if so how many I do need. Forgive me if I sound stupid but I知 new to doing my own car work

There are 3 coils, but they aren't typically a tune up item. If they test out ok and aren't visually damaged, they're probably fine to keep running.

Thanks. I wasn稚 sure since when I look it up, it always talk about replacing those too. Would the fact that I need a tune up cause my engine to misfire

Misfire can be a number of things, I would do plugs and wires and maybe the upstream oxygen sensor. As those things are good to keep up on.

Okay I went to Autozone to get my CEL scanned after it randomly started to blink and I recurved the following codes:
  • P0446
  • P0141
  • P0446
  • P0141
  • P0302

Autozone told me that I needed to replace the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor to fix the codes which didn稚 seem like that was correct but I could致e definitely been wrong

I致e recently replaced both the upstream and downstream sensors. However the codes had stayed for the longest for both of them. Then they disappeared now I have one back. I知 truly lost here with this car

Check the wiring on the upstream sensor if you are still getting the P0141, or did you replace with a bosch? I believe bosch weren't very reliable with these engines.

P0446 can be anything in the EVAP system, hard to really tell without a smoke test or a visibly broke piece. Or even just need a new gas cap.

P0302 is your bank 2 misfire. Pull that plug and check it out, or move the plug and coil to a different one and see if the misfire code moves

Great advice ChibiBlackSheep. Never rule out a failing MAF sensor also.

Fyi, codes will stay stored and keep the CEL on until the code is cleared even after repair.

Not entirely true. If you resolve the condition that caused the code, the car needs to re-process that diagnostic per the required parameters to de-activate the CEL. It might still retain it in history, but it will no longer be active, which means the light goes out. But obviously the quickest/easiest method is clear the codes and see if the light comes back on.
