6th Gen ('00-'05): Tune Up Question
I have an 02 Monte and I知 more than positive that I need to do a tune up on this car. I was wondering if I need to replace the ignition coils and if so how many I do need. Forgive me if I sound stupid but I知 new to doing my own car work
Okay I went to Autozone to get my CEL scanned after it randomly started to blink and I recurved the following codes:
Autozone told me that I needed to replace the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor to fix the codes which didn稚 seem like that was correct but I could致e definitely been wrong
- P0446
- P0141
- P0446
- P0141
- P0302

I致e recently replaced both the upstream and downstream sensors. However the codes had stayed for the longest for both of them. Then they disappeared now I have one back. I知 truly lost here with this car
Check the wiring on the upstream sensor if you are still getting the P0141, or did you replace with a bosch? I believe bosch weren't very reliable with these engines.
P0446 can be anything in the EVAP system, hard to really tell without a smoke test or a visibly broke piece. Or even just need a new gas cap.
P0302 is your bank 2 misfire. Pull that plug and check it out, or move the plug and coil to a different one and see if the misfire code moves

Not entirely true. If you resolve the condition that caused the code, the car needs to re-process that diagnostic per the required parameters to de-activate the CEL. It might still retain it in history, but it will no longer be active, which means the light goes out. But obviously the quickest/easiest method is clear the codes and see if the light comes back on.
