02 SS

I just replaced the trunk release mechanism. It opens but does not pop up. Is this normal operation?? My hold open rods hold the lid open; but, I'm not sure if they should lift it off the latch.

Mine doesn't - original release on an '03 SS. It seems like if it's warm out the lid will open a bit more, but I've attributed this to a combination of warmer air in the trunk trying to escape along with hinges and other mechanics more willing to cooperate in the nice weather. I know I don't move too well when it's 10 deg F out.

 

What shape is you popper in , it's spring loaded , in trunk next to striker .
