Default trunk latch

Hey I have a 02 ss n I can't pop the trunk via either the inside button or from the remote. Whenever I push either one a horrible noise occurs n the latxh doesn't open. I can only access it with my key..any ideas?

Get a new trunk latch, or try some WD-40 when you open the trunk and see if that one is just dirty.

Make sure the two screws that hold the latch there are secure, cuz when I first got mine, one was broke and I had a hard time closing and opening mine. If that doesnt happen or help, I would get a new latch it sounds like the inside of the latch may be shot.

Well I put wwd40 on the latch n even with the trunk open the noise still occurs when I press the remote open button. Could it be the latch solinoid?

Latch solenoid could be stripped. I had a lincoln mark VIII and when I would lock the doors the passenger side would make a terrible whirring noise. The solenoid was stripped out and could not engage properly.
