Brakes needed replacing AND they wore unevenly.

I can't figure it out. Eh, that's what you get for buying the cheapie brand of brake pads I guess.

I just talked to the tranny shop and he said that he's had quite a few of the PCS's going out on these tranny's. He said that it would probably be around $100 for the part and $250 for labor. That isn't bad considering everyone that had it done that I found on the net spend between $600-$1000. So that's pretty cool. I might have mine replaced next week. He also said that if it fails electrically it will throw a code, but if it fails mechanically it won't. Also, the generic scanners at auto part stores usually won't pick it up.

i would check the calipers, usually when break pads are unevenely worn it means a seized caliper, that could mean you need a new one or just need the pins greased up a little. even with cheap brake pads they should unevenly wear

Just dropped my MC off at the tranny shop. He said it should be done tomorrow, but if not it will be Friday. I'll let you know what happens.

Just got the car back from the tranny shop. It was throwing a code for the boost valve. I had them replace the PCS anyway. They replaced my filter too. Total with labor and parts was $642. I tried making it make the hard shift, but I couldn't. The tranny feels way different. I'm not sure if it shifts better or worse, it's hard to tell at this point. I noticed it shifts into reverse a lot better. It used to be delayed now it isn't. It feels like all the shifts are maybe a little firmer which is better. The torque converter lockup you can really feel now. Like I said, I'm not sure if that's good or bad. The fluid is nice and clean now!

The head of the tranny shop actually suggested that I get it rebuilt, but I think I can get a few more miles out of it. They said that my magnet on the pan was pretty full of shavings, but who's wouldn't be with that many miles?

Anywho, I hope you figure out why yours is doing it. The best thing to do is go get it scanned at a tranny shop. Good luck!

Thanks BlkSS...I might have to get it checked. I'll let it be for the time being and see if it corrects itself...since it does it only once in a while.
