Default Traction Control Issues in '07 Monte Carlo SS

I have had my Monte Carlo SS for a year now. Throughout the year, I would crank the car and it would say TC off. I would always turn it back on. Today I cranked the car and it show the TC as being off. The dash showed a service message "Service Traction Control." I drove to my next stop (1/4 mile down the road.) I stopped and noticed the message and the light had went off. I was able to turn the TC on and off. I have since turned off the car and recranked it--no message. I have noticed that this week the car makes a noise when I have cut the wheels in a parking lot or slow speed. It is driving fine. I have not made any recent repairs or changes to the vehicle. I am limited on funds at the moment (in the process of moving.) Is this something that may cost me a lot in the near furture or some freak thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
