Exclamation trac off ?????????????????????????????????

What up fam

in my 01monte my traction control keeps turning off while driving. Ever since I've had the car it seems like when I'm turning at low speeds I hear a grinding sound and the trac off light comes on and usually gos off soon after. Is there a wire under the steering colum that could be gettin pulled or is it a different problem alltogether?

Please help afraid to hurt my baby lol

I had this EXACT problem. Does your ABS go off every now and then too?

Anyway...its not that big of a deal, assuming we do have the same problem...

I just jacked up the car, took off the wheel, and unplugged my speed sensor thing. It was filled with water. This didn't fix the whole thing...so I sprayed the contact (behind the rotor) with electrical contact cleaner. It didn't eliminate the problem, but it occurs about 3% as much as what it used to (knock on wood).

also you said it makes a grinding noise, you may have a bad wheel bearing itself too. but my dtc code directed me to my wheel bearing when my trac off light and abs went off at the same time!

first do both trac and abs lights come on. = bad speed sensor sealed inside the wheel bearing, or wires.

they can take a volt/ohm meter and tell were the problem is comming from.

mine was a bad sensor in my rear driver side. i had to replace the whole bearing. 122 dollars for american, 50 for chinese

or just the trac light for a second. just means your wheels arent getting contact with the road. spinning/burnout,chirp, sliding in snow/rain. this is what it is designed to do.

idk with you saying you hear a grinding noise, it wounds like the actual bearing is bad. same fix.

the only problem with this GM issue is that you have to take it to a mechanic with an abs reader to tell you which one is bad. unless its the front driver side which is easy to tell.

either way, if its the wss (wheel speed sensor) or wheel bearing, it has to be replaced as a whole unit because it is the non serviceable wheel bearing. your best bet if you dont have a gm tech 2 or cant get one is to jack up the car. grab the wheel at 12 and 6 o"clock with your palm on the sidewall of the tire. and wiggle it back and forth, you will feel a small clink and it will be unlike the other three tires. that one will be the bad wheel bearing if it is a wheel bearing. you can also put it in neutral with the car safely chocked and spin your wheel by hand to see if you get a grinding feel because your roller bearings are worn or loose. hope this helps!
