Default Ticking sound coming from the "left front."

Got another one. I recently started hearing a ticking sound that seems to be related to speed. I say left front b/c when my window is down, thats' where it's at, which is obvious given I'm on the left side of the car. Anyway, it could be a stone or something in the tire, which I haven't been able to check yet, but I don't think so. It's tough to hear very well over there general engine noise and the whine of the supercharger, but it sounds VERY familiar to a sound I heard in my 96 Grand Prix 3.1. Someone told me once that just by listening he thought it could be lifters.

Anyone know/recognize the sound I'm describing and have any thoughts? If it is lifters, sticking or whatever, is that a huge issue?

Hi `Matt,
How many miles on your Monte ?
If it's a lifter sound, I would lift your hood,
and have someone inside giv'in it gas & U should be able
to hear it coming from the valve cover area of your engine.

Also run your hands over your tires (When Stopped : ) lol
to see if there is anything stuck in them.

Then have your wheel pulled to check brake assembly
to see if there's is wear, etc.

Then, come back to see what our expert member's
post....Good Luck from `Space

Great ideas guys! I do need to replace my brakes something awful - just waiting to get back to the ole' homestead to save some $$ and do it myself. I didn't think that it could be brake related too. I guess I just heard the sound and immediately thought of the old "problem" I had. I have about 53k on it (2005).
