strong ticking noise coming from around the..

strong ticking noise coming from around the..
glove box area. when the a.c. is on it goes away. when i turn it of it ticks like crazy! then if i shut the car of with the a.c on or off it will continue to tick for 45 or 60 secs. any ideas what may be causing this?

I should have kept my mouth shut, it started ticking today in my car.......
It did go away with some switching AC on/off and messing with the controls, but it looks like I will need mine fixed soon......
