Temp gauge slowly moves

Temp gauge slowly moves
When i start my car the temp gauge needle barely moves and after 15mins it moves a few more ticks but its still reading low. When i scanned my ECT it starts up around 60-64C and then get up to 80-84C so it looks like the pcm is reading correctly. Already replaced the tstat. Is there another sensor for the dash gauge or is my wiring going bad?

Not sure which engine you have but i also have the same issue where the temp guage barely comes up. I believe some other 5th gen owners have encountered this issue as well. I get good hot heat so i believe the engine is up to a working temperature but i have no explanation for the guage.

i have 3.8l but i had firestone test the tstat awhile back when i noticed it first doing this when they tested it everything went back to normal. Even a week and half it was working fine then all of sudden it reverted back to same problem.

When I bought my 99 z34 about 2 years ago, the first thing I did was replace the thermostat. I did this because the temp guage was reading above warm, but not where I thought it should be at normal temps. Well, it didn't make any difference. I have a 195 degree thermostat in it and it runs 190-200, based on a reading from the pcm, but the temp guage reads low. Sounds like others have the same issue. Nothing you can do about it apparently.

Ok, I just bought a 99 z34.. It had a cracked radiator, so i replaced it. I am having this issue as well... surely there is something we can do about this!! I will keep you all updated... Are your fans working?? I have noticed that mine dont seem to be clicking on......

Something seems fried!!
I came home last night and as I pulled into the carport with my 2001 SS, there was a screeching noise. I have not heard the noise since, but I did notice my temp gauge was at the lowest and the cooling fan stayed running long after the ignition was off. First time I ever noticed that, but the fan finally stopped.
Today I went to my mechanic and he started to replace the coolant temp sensor, but then he saw a mouse nest and the wires to the sensor were bare where mice had chewed them. He then tested the voltage and nothing was going to the sensor. He decided that the control module had surely been damaged because of a short caused by the bare wires.
I need a temperature gauge and I know I can buy an alternative type at [url=http://www.sig.itel.net/]
However, I am somewhat concerned about the control module sending false signals to various components as it may "think" my coolant temp is cold all the time. It could decrease my fuel mileage, etc.
My check engine light is now lit, but it was not before I went to my mechanic and then left there. No computer check has been yet made.
Any suggestions or input would be appreciated.

Going to a GM auto-doctor today. He had scanned and found 3 codes before and has confidence he can fix all with a some wires and a few parts, the ETC and also the Mass Air Flow sensor.
The engine is hard to start in the mornings (like starting my old '39 Chevy without using the choke), but runs fine after a few minutes. The PCM must be acting as if the engine is hot already.......and I used to like those field mice.
