I probably would...Especially if he dents caused the honeycomb to fold over, that will just create more air restriction, and turbulence in the air if the honeycomb is all messed up.
That is true, the aftermarket TBs are usually meant to run without the screen. I am currently running mine without the screen because it's what ZZP recommends (unless your car stutters) and I'm tuned without mine in.
However, from the factory TB you want to run the screen for the MAF. The extra air means nothing, if you car isn't getting a good reading to tell the PCM what to do with air and fuel.
