Default TB Screen Removal

I did the TB screen removal on my 04 Intimidator and also on my dads 00 Bonneville SSEI. On my car it took roughly 10 minutes which 8 minutes of that was looking for something with tips small enough to remove the c-clip. Also people have suggested using a flathead to pry the screen out which didnt work for me. What worked for me was using a screw (one of the ones I used to remove the c-clip) and I hand screwed it into the screen about 1". I then pulled on it and the screen popped right out. Much easier and basically makes a little handle for the screen. On the Bonneville SSEI, it took me 3 minutes total time from start to finish, using the same technique with the screw. I am no mechanic so just for those who have not done this in fear of messing something up, it is easy to do and quick. Took one flat head screwdriver, 2 small screws (like license plate screws) and thats it.

Just thought I would post it to let some of you guys know how easy it is AND about the using a screw to remove the screen instead of trying to pry it out with a flathead screwdriver.

Hey dude, good tip. I used a set of pliers that were specifically for removing those clips, and then used my trusty Smith & Wesson pocket knife.

I understand why you'd want to, but I've never been convinced this helps. I'm glad my MAF gets accurate readings.

Nah, that's the best! I love thread resurrections! Its like making friends with people who don't know it and never will. Are the OP still on the board even?

So do you want to just know?

A lot of people think the screen is an obstruction of flow so they want to remove it, less obstructions = more air = more power.

But the screen helps straighten the air for the MAF sensor and give accurate readings, which is much better than the 1% of air increase haha

So with that said...I noticed 2 big dents in my screen last night when I took off the air intake tubing. Should I replace the screen?
