Sunroof glass a different size on Z34 models???
So my dad locked himself out of his 5th gen 97 z34 monte carlo and rather than calling cops for assistance, he decided to pop the sun roof off. Well once he got back home he glued the four metal clips back to the sunroof glass and took off down the road. Needless to say it blew off on the highway and shattered.
Now my dilemma, I've been to five different yards looking for a sunroof for this thing but all the base model sunroofs seem to be 23"x 30 3/4" and his is based on the opening roughly 19"x33" did they make a different size for the z34 model as compared to the base models? And if so does any one have a lead on where to find the right size glass. Any help would be grealy appreciated as I'm out of places to check.

Any idea if the sun roof was installed after market? If so, you will need to source the glass from the company that made the sunroof kit.

It appears to be stock everything about the opening appears to be stock. switch and interior lining appear to be unmodified, the way the metal from the roof is rolled all seam factory. Is there a specific code in the vin that would verify sunroof as stock?

I would say its a factory option...
Either go to your local dealer for the glass, part number..
Or get one from the junkyard. Or somewhere like a Auto tint shop, or that does custom installs to replace it.

You should be able to run the VIN in many sites like CompNine.com and get a listing of what factory options it had. Or find the RPO code for sunroof and see if that's on the RPO sheet/sticker.
