Default Struts

I have an 01 SS and want to replace the struts in the front and I would like some imput from the folks on here .There is alot of knowledge here it is like a well . So I am wondering what are some good struts to get that are as close if not as good as the oem . I am also wondering is it better to replace the piston Or the whole unit for the springs weaken over awhile .

Thanks

Boggie

Monroe OEM for sure... Monroe has a mail-in rebate of $100 for all four on right now (Canada, I would imagine the States too)... A little bit better than stock ride and correct ride height...

That's what I used, although technically they came from NAPA and were rebranded Monroes. Since I was close to 200K miles I did quick struts all around instead of just the carts.

Yeah Monroe and KYB's GR2 are probably a good call as to something close to OEM and reasonably priced. KYB also makes the AGX which is a step up from the GR2 and a bit more expensive. Bilstein manufactures a very nice strut but you'll pay for them.

I see Rock Auto has the Monroe front quick strut for $109 each and the rears for $129 each. The KYB's look like they are just a couple of bucks more.
