Default struts

so today i had 5 people in my car with the total wieght being about 850 lbs. and while going down the highway hit a dip in the road and heard a loud scrap noise so i pull over and the tire and rim has a scuff on it from where it hit the wheelwell ...so is that to much wieght in the car or are my struts going bad ????????????????anyone else have this problem before ....i do have 20s on the car too but normally dont have that much wieght in the car..

850 lbs. + 20s + highway speed + dip in road = tire/wheel damage.

This explains why most of the people around here with wagon wheels rarely exceed 25 mph and swerve to avoid every little bump in the road.

You also have amps, and a sound system don't you?

Probably way over the limit haha.

If you want to test your suspension, push down on the trunk, if the car pops back up without bouncing more than 2 or 3 times you are pretty good.

I agree, this is how your mechanic will do it and charge you.

With out going to technical it is all based on Hooke's Law(spring Constant). Look up if you want to know more. Basically there was to much force being put on the spring and it was not designed for that wait load.

So, if you decided that you want to replace the springs/struts what will you decide to go with?

I WILL NOTPUT THAT MANY PEOPLE IN MY CAR AGAIN but i was thinking to add a spacer in between the spring so that it lifts the back a little more cause my shocks dont seem bad .....maybe later ill replace with something better when i get some money to gether.....i read something about nkg or something like that are good?????
