I have a 01 monte carlo ss that has been acting up on me. I had it sit for roughly 40 days without driving due to a dui. Anyways i started it back up fine and got the breathalyzer installed in my car. Since then the engine will randomly cut off like its ran out of gas. The car wont start back up either. I get a check engine light and it is P0101 MAF Sensor Performance. I bought a code reader so now when the engine dies i will pull it out and clear the code and it starts right back up. Been happening every two-three days but seems to be happening more frequently. Have a nef MAF sensor on my car. Thinking it could be an electrical or vacumm problem. Anybody have a similar problem or know where to start? Thanks

 

I'm just guessing here, but since the car was sitting for a while it's more likely to be an electrical problem than a vacuum one. And if it were a vacuum malfunction the code would likely start with P04xxx. That's about all I can contribute to this though... Best of luck to ya

 

Maybe the breathilizer unit is faulty. Turning off the car.

 

Does your security light come on at all?

What did you buy to replace the MAF? Check the wiring to the sensor also.
