hello.just purchased a 2003 monte ss limited edition.was wondering if my steering wheel is supposed to go into locked position when key is in off position.mine doesnt seem to lock?also.when i first start it my guages go to bottom position for a sec then everything goes to normal.all guages fine after that and while driving.is that normal.thanks for any help.RCR29

 

all my gauges go to the bottom along with the key. they start working the sec i turn it to accesory.

not sure about the wheel. it should lock. it would be pretty hard to turn the wheel w/o power steering anyways. maybe you broke something while trying to look for things that are broken.

 

thanks for the reply.ya my gagues do the same think.but when it first starts they all drop and theres a beep,then they all go to normal.it is hard to turn the wheel.but i know on cars with the ignition switch in the colum,the wheel locks and wont move at all.my ignition switch is on the dash,so im thinking maybe the wheel doesnt go to a locked position because of that.thanks for the reply.RCR29

 

There is no steering wheel lock on 2003 Monte. Your gauge activity at startup is normal.
