Default Steering problems

Hi I'm an owner of a 2002 Monte Carlo ss but I'm having problems steering. It gets so hard to steer and it screeches a lot. I have put power steering oil fluid but it leaked it all. I don't know what to do or what's wrong with it. Help anyone?

Welcome to the forum

If you filled up the power steering pump and it leaked out, my first guess would be that you either have a leak in the power steering pump itself, or in one of the power steering fluid lines. You can follow the lines coming out of the pump and see which one has fresh fluid on it, and feel around the pump itself to see. The squeak noise is most likely coming from the pump being out of fluid. These are both relatively cheap and easy fixes.

Not having fluid in the pump would make it very hard to steer as the fluid is needed to make the pump do it's job.
