Cause I believe (this is only my opinion) that more problems come from anything front wheel drive, computer controled BS I feel the same way about a V6 in a Camaro or a Mustang. But mostly I look down on alot of the older muscle cars that should have just been left alone.

Oh boy, where do I start here..........

Hummmmmmmmmmmm....... As with any thing mechanical, you’re going to have problems. Computer controlled car are here and they are not going away so your going to have the problems associated with it. But, our newer Montes have more powe and are more comfortable than most of the previous Montes. That being said, I like just about every gen Monte out there. My 2003 has been the best car I have ever owned and it's not going over any cliff..[:'(]

Like it or not, this gen of Montes are in the Monte family and I for one feel this gen will be remembered 20/30 years from now, and who knows, they may even be as popular as some of the other older gen's.

If it is the CAT....... It should be covered regardless of the 36K/3YR warranty. If I am not mistaken, I think it is covered to 60Kish.......

The CAT may or may not be the cause, but I would venture to guess that it's that or your fuel system.

Also, I have read somewhere of similar shutter problems being linked to computer data corruption. The fix there was to remove the battery cable and let it sit without power for a couple of hours. This will clear/reset the puter.

For the sake of diagnostics, take it to the dealership to find out what the problem is. They will best be able to tell what the prob is and whether or not it is a warranty-covered item. If it is something that is not covered they will at least be able to tell you what it is. Then price shop it. Make sure you tell them to make you aware of any cost before work is performed regardless.
