Hey im new here and have a problem. I own a 2004 Monte Carlo automatic. The button broke off the gear shifter and now in order to put into park or get out of park I have to put the button back in and press it then it comes back out. I dont see how to fix this without replacing the whole thing all the way down into the mechanical linkage. Anyone ever hear of this problem?

 

Chances are good, if it is an 04, as long as it is under 36000 miles, it is still under warranty for another few months. I would take it to the dealer. The shifter is probably something you can fix yourself, as I have seen some of them on ebay. But if its under warranty, take advantage of it.
