security light on in message center

Also, I have seen people claim continuing to run with a faulty ignition switch can possibly cause damage to the bcm but DO NOT know if this is factual. Since you can get a switch for $40 dollars or less online it might be cheap insurance as well as a possible fix to your problem. Its an easy repair. Good luck and keep everyone posted.
Rockauto.com is where I get almost all my parts from. Almost always the best deals and fast and reasonable shipping. You may have to use the search by part number tab for this part. For some reason the ignition switch does not show up under the specific car. If you order online through them this code will get you a 5% discount good until 5/19.

sorry to bring up an old post, but what did you do to fix it (03Montepacecar) i just started having my security light come on while driving and it didn't want to start once. other times it starts fine, but light is still on
I have a 1997 LS that the batter may have gotten low on and that could have tripped the Theft Lock. I was told that that may cause the lock out. the car won't start. Any extra ideas on what it maybe would be great.

I”ve read all of the posts concerning this however they all talk about it coming on while driving. Mine came on while sitting in a parking lot with the car idling. It was late at night and I was 15 miles from home so I left on a wing and a prayer. Once home, I turned it off, and back on. No Security Message. Driven a few miles and it hasn’t come back on since. Should I be concerned? Is there a way other than taking it to the dealership to have it checked? Thanks!
Yes, be concerned. I'm having this same problem now. I just tried the bypass and relearn. Hasn't worked yet. What was a sometime problem is now a no start with security light permanently on. I will have the battery checked tomorrow. See my post just above this post.
