Question Security light > Dealer says ebtcm not bcm ?? HELP PLEASE!

Security light been coming on randomly for 6 weeks or so while driving. Car never fails to start or run. The other day the service traction light came on trac off can on abs came on and battery showed in display, all while the car is running fine. Took it to the dealer thaey want to change the ingniton switch whic i understand, but the say it the ebtcm nor the bcm that is bad. I though ebtcm was electronic brake and traction control only, but they say if I don't replacte that too the car may fail to start??? Please help me understand this, it just doesn't seem right. Its a 2001 SS

as long as if is truly fixed I don't mind spending the money....just not sure the ebtcm is the culprit. The service writer is telling me it controls the security, not just the brakes and the traction control....I've read the BCM controls most all of that, thats why I hesitate. I will let them change the ingnition switch for sure, just need to make sure before we start throwing parts at it, especially 1000.00 parts. Wont take long for the piggy bank to go dry....
