Question Rotor & Break install rip off?

So I recently got some rotors and break pads I went to a shop down the street from me they did an inspection and want to charge me what seems to be an arm and a leg .
The guy said he wouldn't change the front rotors unless I did the back ones too because they are warped, but you can't even tell. I plan on selling the car soon anyway I just wanted to get the front ones fixed. He also said one of the ball joints were warn or almost gone.

My total to fix the front rotors would be $178.50
to fix the hub $312.83

Grand totally if he did all 4 rotors and hub $870.28 ($476.00 in Labour!)

Im just wondering would it be such a terrible thing if I got just the front rotors done for now? and what do you think a fair price for installation/ labour?

I think the labor rate is about right. Figure about 89.00 per hour, about 1 hour per corner 2 do all 4 brakes, then 1 additional hour 2 do the hub = 5 hours. Approx. 500.00 after tax. Are u supplying all the brake parts & the hub?

I have the rotors and pads already, I just want to do the front found another shop, it came with good reviews and is only charging about $120+ tax for just the front.

1 hr per corner? To R&R pads and rotors ???? $89.00 an hr??? Are you serious???
Maybe 20 mins a corner...Tops! Its not that difficult!

I'll give ya maybe an Hr on the hub..(That's pushn it)

I get all 4 corners done for $100.00 in Labor + I had the Parts!

Ive never had to do any hubs....
But I have a neighbor (Certified Mechanic) and seen him do plenty for a lot less! (according to the book!)

If you also supplied the Hub... That's waaaay to much! IMO

I did have a HUB done on my 4 wheel drive Silverado and they supplied the Hub for only $265.38 out the door!

The $$$ I gave was a dealership estimate, not a real world or good local mechanic estimate. Always expect the worst and hope 4 the best

Ceramic brakes tend to have a bit of a squeal from time to time...

Sometimes... They don't remove all the protective lube off of the new rotors... which causes some minor glazeing.. hence the minor squealing...

You could always pull it apart, sand the pads with some sand paper to clean off the minor glazeing and degrease the rotors and see if that doesn't resolve your squeal/squeaking..

Thanks... since I moved I have no tools to do much to my car, it only squeals at lower speed and I rarely drive my car anymore since I can pretty much longboard everywhere.

I didn't think it was anything serious, it's good to know what it is though!
