RPM Limit

Default RPM Limit

I just started my 2007 Monte SS (5.3 V8) and noticed the rpms are limited to about 3500 in the park position. Same thing in neutral. Is this nomal???

Yep
very normal
no load engine is set on most gm's at 3500 rpms....
Controled by the ecm

Funny, I just went out in my 2005 Silverado, again with the 5.3 V8, and it doesn'd have a limiter on the RPM. They must have just added the feature, or it's not on the trucks

that is the pcm they sell them at pfyc.com and also at ditigal horsepower the whole PCM is about $100 bucks if your looking for an upgrade thats reasonably cheap for the gains

Nope trucks will free rev. I have noticed this on GM cars starting in like 92 Grand Prixs and Luminas. Just kind of a free rev limiter. The 60 deg motors must not like free reving to much
