Default rpm guage needle location?

How's it going guys. My rpm gauge is out of wack when its off it sits at 4000. So I imagine its the motor, and I read how to replace it. I'm just curious where its suppose to sit when its turned off so I can set it correctly, its a 2005 supercharged ss.

Without sitting in the car looking at it I'm not sure, but if it is how to determine how far past 0 it is would be tough. And then for you to duplicate it with " a pencil width from 0... Best bet is to turn the ignition to Accessories on position, and move the needle to 0... know where I'm comin' from?

If I'm wrong someone else will be here shortly to point and laugh at me.
