Default Royal purple oil

Me and my dad are going to be switching over all of our cars...all5 of them (My monte, his 95 tahoe, moms 99 tahoe sport, 69 dodge dart swinger340, 71 dodge dart swinger)to royal purple tommorow and i was wondering if there is any filters that any body has had any experince with that seem to be better than others

i think we are going to go 10,000 miles between each oil change and 3-5K with the filter

good or bad idea with the filter to go that long?

I have no real knowledge on filters, but what I understand is the Wix are as good or better than most. Just use a premium filter. Doesn't most NASCAR teams use Wix?
I have over 550,000mi on synthetic oils. Never had an engine apart for ANY reason. I, too, believe Royal Purple is possibly the best oil out there. However, Mobil1 Extended Performance oil has a 15,000mi warranty against lubrication failure with it, and as far as I know, it's the only oil that does. We also have all our vehicles, and my Dad's Buick on Mobil 1 E.P. oil. I am running Mobil 1 ONLY because of this warranty.
As far as when to change oil, thats easy for me. Every 6,000mi I have the tires rotated and change the filter. Every 12,000mi we change the oil. That keeps things simple. If you go 5,000 on your tire rotation, I would then suggest changing oil at 10,000mi.
Do you have Onstar? I made a post recently about Onstar and their remote diagnostics and about how well the oil life monitor in my car does. It tells me I could go something like 18-20,000mi between changes. But that is all calculations, I'm told. I don't care, it proves even more to me that synthetics are the best in this century, while regular oil was the best 100 years ago. Better living thru chemistry.

use the Wix 10 micron filters or less that means it will protect aginst anythign 10 micron or bigger from goign threw the motor.

but also mobil one extended life filters i would venture a bet tha tyou cna find somethign like it in the Wix also.
but as far as royal puprel gose i would just use the mobil 1 it is a good oil also and full syn. or you can get it in blended etc... and also half the cost fo the Rp and is just as good if not better in some way s

I ran RP with a K&N Gold filter for a little over a year, loved it. I'm now running Mobil1 synthetic with a Mobil1 filter, I change the oil and filter both at 6k.

Also, Mobil1 makes one of the best oil filters readily available.

i'm sure you can buy it cheaper in the states, but i sell it for 8.99 a quart if you buy like 5 quarts @ a time...if you buy a case i do it for 7.99

this is for 5w30 and 10w30...the others are a little more...

and a 51040 wix oil filter will last forever....well not forever..but a very long time
