Default Remote Starter?

So I just bought a 96 monte carlo ss and it came with a remote starter and it works great with just one problem, when you hit the brakes it shuts off. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

don't touch the brakes!

J/K

Is that without the key in the ignition? if so, That's suppose to happen.

What brand is the remote start?/ Is it also an alarm?

You may have to reset the remote start function...

You have ti turn the key to the "on" position before you hit the brakes. If you simply just insert the key but don't turn it, then hit the break the car should go off

Its the same way with my remote starter

I have a Crimestopper Alarm and Remote Start and I wired it myself.

For most if not all aftermarket remote starts, you need to insert the key and turn it to the "ON" position so that the anti-theft security does not kill the engine . The remote starter has a bypass module for the anti-theft security, and will temorarily bypass the security to start the car. The remote starter would not start the car if it did not bypass the anti-theft security during starting. When you touch the brake with out the anti-theft security seeing the key, it then does a safety shutoff/kill. The anti-theft security still needs to see the key in the "ON" position for you to take over.

There also should be a "Anti-Grind" feature so if you do turn the key to far to the "START" position the starter will not engage. Try it with a quick turn and see.... so you know and are aware.

Mine will do that if I forget to turn the key to the on position. I have a Viper system that came with my 2000 LS
