Remanufactured Engine
Hi everyone. My husband just installed a new transmission and put all new seals in my upper and lower manifold in my 2001 Monte Carlo SS.
Last Monday driving home from work, my engine finally died- threw a rod.
We decided to get a re manufactured block engine.
We know the problems that have plagued this car. I'd like an engine that has the factory defects fixed.
I need a recommendation of where and which one to buy.
Thanks!

What factory defects are you referring to in relation to the 3800 bottom end? TBH I can't think of any that would be of concern on a daily driver that would need to be fixed.
In terms of a replacement, IMO I'd pick up the lowest mileage L36 you can find from a junkyard. There are zillions of them in junkyards all over and you could probably buy like 3 or 4 for the price of a fully rebuilt one. These stock engines routinely last 200k+ miles, so if you can get one with 100k or less, it should have a ton of life left in it.

I agree with Bumpin96monte . These engines are available at local recycling yards, usually very cheap and depending on yard might have a warranty. I have installed numerous without any issues. But if you desire a remanufactured contact a local engine builder they can g8ve you exact prices and maybe will do the install if you can't yourself. You can do over a weekend if you have the tool's otherwise it somewhere between 10-14 hours labor depending on how complete the new engine is and options. Good luck
