Default Random engine shut off

I have a 2000 with the 3.4 l . The engine just shuts off at random times . The only thing it shows is a battery light. No engine codes. I have replaced the battery and double checked connection. Still no resolution to the problem. My little girl drives this car and I'm afraid of what could happen. Please help .

So many things it could be in my experience. If you can, try to test fuel pressure at the fuel rail while you let it idle, and clean your MAF sensor.

When it dies do the electronics die too? Is it like the car key was just turned to ON and you hear a chime? Does it happen at idle, while in park, in drive, in 3rd gear, etc.?

When it shuts off, does it turn right back on?

Default Just recently happened to me too!

No joke; just last week my engine did the same exact thing. Steering wheel locked up at 60mph on the interstate. Talk about scary... I could’ve died!

Battery light did come on, no other lights on BUT my entire cluster gauge is erratic and soon to be repaired. I believe it is causing many other issues as my transmission tends to slip and has rough shifts. Also low gas mileage and power recently. I have the 2005 supercharged SS. After I pulled over and parked the car I turned it off and started it right back up. No problem...

Dealership mentioned replacing the Fuel Pressure Sensor and Valve Body plus a Transmission Flush. And the Cluster Gauge of course.. $3500 estimated and I don’t know what really needs to be done or is causing the shifting problems either. I don’t trust the Dealership in being completely 100% honest. Help is appreciated
