install electric fan
Has anyone installed an electric fan?...If so, i'm looking to install one on my 84 with a 305...I need to know some spec information on what fan to get...they ask push/pull, height, width, # of blades...I have no clue...any help is appreciated....

I haven't, but I will now...besides the fan, what else will I need...an electrical kit I would suspect?....

It depends on your wiring skills and how detailed you want to go, toggle switches is one option or you can put a thermostatic relay in and have it kick on and off with the temperature.

Very good old school advice, alot of people dont know how reliable and affordable those electric fans are, only trouble is finding one...check local junkyards or ebay.i had a book or catalog (something) that explained how to install and parts needed etc.will try to locate info and post it

If the fan is mounted between the engine and the radiator, you use a puller so it can work with, not against, the air coming through the grill...

Oh gosh, my bad, I said it wrong, you're right it has to pull if it's between the engine and radiator. I thought it'd be better to use a bigger fan on my 87 Monte. Unfortunately this bigger fan came off a serpentine setup and went to a reverse-rotation water pump. Needless to say it got really hot after about 20 minutes or so of driving. I put the old stock fan back on it and fixed it. That's how I learned about the importance of push/pull when it comes to your cooling fan.

So I installed an electric fan...it's a 2050 CFM...I have a 185 degree thermostat, and the switch for the fan is also a 185...I also added a toggle switch to turn it on when I want...the problem is, I went for the first ride yesterday and sat in some traffic...it wasn't that hot, around 70 or so, and I wasn't in traffic for long, maybe 15 minutes of stop and go...the temp got to 210 and 220...I pulled over and sat for a while, then went right home...when driving it's fine, but sitting, it's getting really hot...the waterpump is brand new...radiator isn't...I think it's the stock radiator...
My question is, is the fan not powerful enough, or do I need a newer radiator with 2 core?....
