the power window switch always had problems in the relay and this occurs because of the dirty connections, then best one can do is to clean its connections...

Default Easy fix

I have yet to find an aftermarket windows switch that works so I just used parts from the new switch to repair the old switch. good as new

My driverside window worked perfectly fine ... Until one day I partially put the window down and someone came over to talk to me and leaned on it...
Thus derailing it...Grrrrr

Needless to say... I took it home afterwards and took the window/door panel apart..

The glass had actually hung on the wire harness to the window... Thus stretching the connection at the switch... and putting it in a bind...
After realigning the window... I too experienced an auto down issue... I took the connector and the switch apart only to discover the switch looked a little tarnished and the stress on the wiring at the connector also was pulled away some from the actual connector... I managed to repair it enough to where it now operates pretty much normal... once in a blue moon it gets stuck in the down position... All I have to do is reopen the door and close it and it returns to operating normal again...

Maybe,
Someone did the same thing to your moms Monte thus resulting in a shorting window switch? Me personally.. rather than keep buying a new one at the dealer... I would pick one up from your local junkyard/pullapart and reman it before you install it? also paying attention to the connector and give it as through once over to eliminate any further problems in the future with a touch of dielectric grease to help make a good connection.
