power window cable disconnected
Hello there - my window is not working on the drivers side - we took off the door panel and saw a cable that is disconnected - does anyone know of a schematic I can look at to try and figure out where this cable needs to be connected to? Or if you know where it goes...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Theresa

RE: power window cable disconnected
what year car?
for the most part the windows have to plug in to the back of the switch if they are not pluged in they will not work. seems obviouse but i had the same thing happen when they broke the clip off the back of the switch on mine while getting in to teh car the last time it was broke in to. the body shop just tried plugging it back in and it fell back out after hitting a few bumps.

ok first things first.
If the motor works and the window still dont go up or down check to make sure that it is attached to teh track
also make sure tha tthe track is free to move up and down.
If this is still not doing it make sure the the glass is not locked in or wedged some how and the track is not seperated fromt eh glass.
If it came off the glass it might have jamed int here and this is causeign it to screw up on you.
there really is not to much in there.
the track has a run on both sides it has to travel with in to allow the window to go up or down.
the motor either gose up or down with the power of the switch and a worm gear type deal for themotor.
Another thing to try is to take the switch out of another monte from the bone yard and see if the switch it's self is bad.
is the pass. side working correctly?
those switches are nothing more then switching polarity on the motor to make it go either up or down. in other words one way will make it go up. turn the switch around it would make it go down with the same button push.
Also take a metter and make sur ehte switch is not burned up.
you cna also snap them apart real easy and see if this is the case to.

Hi There - it is a cable that is not connected - my husband has a schematic - but it is very busy - we haven't gotten it fixed he went to the chevy dealership and they wanted like 500 to put a new motor in. Just lucky it hasn't rained lately. lol

If it is the one on the door. behind the switch at the actual switch it is nothing more then pluging it in. not a tuff one there but if it is under the dash it coudl get to be a PITA.
but still not to difficult. should be a plug on both ends just a matter of fighting with it to get the plug int he right way for it to go in to the female side of the plug.
But im glad it si not the motor. and hope it stays dry for ya but they are talking rain here for the next week go figure LOL
