yeah, youll get whatever back you had to pay to get it fixed ... as long as the date of the repair is prior to the recall, there should be no trouble ...

and i hate how car companies are allowed to put expiration dates on recalls ... cheap %$$es

All 2006 SS models not sure about the rest...if your not the orginal owner or have moved since you bought the car then that could be why you didnt get the recall letter ??...so if I was you I would call GM not your local dealership because when I took mine to the dealer they acted like they weren't aware of it (yea right) then finally they found it their computer.

If I'm not the original owner of the car how would I know if the last owner had this done or not?

Also, I just called the GM Customer Assistance and he said there was no recall under my VIN #. Does that make any sense?

update: looks like the Customer Assistance people are clowns. Called the dealership and they said the job was done as it is recorded under the VIN # back in early 2008.

I called GM and they said my recall for this issue was done on 03/30/10

I also updated the info since I'm the new owner & I just purchased the Monte two weeks ago. Thank God I read these posts from time to time

I have a 2007 Monte Carlo LT. Both customer service and my local dealership insist that there is no recall on my power steering. I am very worried they are misinformed. They look it up based on my VIN. Should I believe them?

I dont think GM knows what the heck their doing with this recall > I would think all 06 & 07 models would have the same dang hose. Strange to me that the dealer claims your car was done in 08 for I didnt even receive my recall letter till summer time 2010.

*bump from the grave*
I noticed a leak from one of my Power steering lines about a week ago and after doing research here and on LS1tech I have determined it is the recalled power steering line. My biggest concern with the issue was about the letter that was sent out stating that the recall was free of charge if done before Feb of 2011. I bought my car Jan 4, 2012 so I never recieved the letter and was afraid I was going to be held accountable for the previous owner being a lazy good-for-nothing.
I went to a Chevy dealership today to ask them about the issue. They ran my VIN and told me that the line was going to be fixed free of charge. (I think the only requirement was if the vehicle had less than 110,000 miles otherwise I don't know why he asked.)
I just wanted to post this update because I was trying to find an instance where somebody got this fix done after that "free of charge" date and found nothing. So for anybody who hasn't gotten the recall fixed yet it should still be free of charge granted you have a good dealer in the area.
