If they ask for VIN... Won't it go into a database that I have all of this extra work put into the car? Never mind... I am not under warranty anyway. I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks for the quick advice.

LOL... I wouldn't be worrying if it were just a CAI... I have the FULL setup. Turbocharged, intercooled, water-meth, new injectors, Impala bumper, 2-15" Kicker Comp VR subs, boost gauge in the dash, electric cut out, re-flashed ECM/TCM, shift kit... All kinds of B.S. I haven't had the opportunity to check with the dealer yet, but I am not looking forward to a positive response.

from what the above post says it can be done without having to take it to the dealer? but you have an SS, and I heard it was a little different than the 3.5 and 3.9! so you may want to just pay to get it fixed with all the mods you have? not sure though...

Get the recall done b4 2/28/11 or you'll miss out. I had mine serviced today after all my steering fluid leaked out yesterday because of the split hose. Was not fun driving home from work yesterday without power steering....lol

Question

Do these recalls only apply to the people who have received a notice from GM? Or to everyone who owns that model monte?

mine had its blowout last year on new years eve, and i had the work done at a shop near the house well before the recall was out ... so when they sent out the notices, it was only a week or two later after i sent the receipt with the charges on it, GM sent me a reimbursement,

but as far as getting it done at a private shop now, and getting them to pay for it, i dont think it would work out well for you,

but if i understand correctly, modifications to the car, dont preclude you from recall work ... a turbocharger sitting under the hood might raise a few eyebrows, but an understanding tech/ dealer might look past it, with a bribery of a case of beer or something ...

but miller, if you can afford the work youve had done, a few replacement hoses and fitting arent a big deal ... would love to have a ride in your car btw
