Power Brake Booster
Is anybody familiar with replacing a brake booster. I haven't started the job and am unsure about the "cam-lock" where the booster attaches to the firewall. How do you remove the booster from this "cam-lock" ? The hayne's manual says to slide a screwdriver in and lift the tab, this isn't much info though.

Here are the instructions on how to get the booster off. Looks like a special tool is needed to get the booster to come off. Go to your local parts store and see if there is one to rent.

Unlock the booster from the front of the cowl. Use a flat bladed tool to depress the brake booster locking tab (1) out of the cowl mounting flange, while turning the booster counterclockwise with a ratchet on the J 22805-B (2).

It appears that special tool J 22805-B is just an attachment that bolts onto the booster where your master cylinder would normally bolt on. It allows you to attach ratchet to it and gives you more leverage when turning the booster. Unless the booster is on super tight, maybe it could be turned by hand.
Oh, and you need to disconnect the brake pedal - I'm pretty sure that there's a cotter pin or something that connects the brake pedal to the booster - under the dash.

thanks for the posts, I had to push in the "cam-lock" tab towards the firewall and spin the booster counter clockwise with a long screwdriver wedged between the Master Cylinder bolts. Cotter pin attaches the pedal to the booster rod. Fairly easy overall. Biggest pain in the *** was moving the egr, egr heat shield and pulling the booster out. Only took a little over an hour to complete.
